the story so far

PRESENTLY:
Blinky Blinky Computerband, the “Strange Electro Pop” project of Olaf Krautwurst, is still alive after a 12 year journey, trying to find his vision of electronic music. And yes, this journey will go on in the future. Recently Blinky is working on a new EBM/Industrial album, which will be released in 2025 and also plan to play some concerts in the future.

At the moment, Michael “Arni” Arnold and Torsten Jung are a part of Blinky, by adding their musical skills, especially live, to the music of Blinky Blinky Computerband. Arni is also a graphic designer (skribbelfabrik) and Torsten has his own electronic music project, called Crash Dump File.

PREVIOUSLY:
Blinky was established in 2012 as a follow up to Inside Agitator, the longtime running project by Olaf. Since 2012 lots of music was released, some live performances were played, over 50 remixes were produced and cooperations with other artists were done. The most important facts you can find in the following timeline and on the other pages of the Blinky Blinky Computerband homepage!

2024: soon!
2023: This year starts with a bang. Blinky hostet and played the “Strange Electro Pop Festival II” in Braunschweig, together with Parade Ground from Belgium, Dpoint from Sweden and Stahlschlag from Hamburg. It was a great evening and a great experience. Blinky played with Olaf, Arni, Torsten and Rennee, who is the keyboard player of System Noire and another projects. But then, silence! A strange time startet for Olaf and Blinky releases some digital singles and an album with demos, experiments and other strange music. Beside of these releases, there were no concerts or other activities.
2022: The CDs “Geistmaschine”, “Scattered Bones” and the best of compilation “Ten Years 2012 – 2022” were released. Blinky also played two shows in Braunschweig and one in Preußisch Oldendorf this year. Especially the show in Preußisch Oldendorf was a great experience, because it was the first bigger thing outside of Braunschweig with mostly an audience of people who never heard of Blinky, but yes, it was a great experience and Blinky found lots of new friends. And there was something else that must not be forgotten! In December of 2023 a fourth CD was released and this CD was the next EBM, Synthpop and Industrial album “Shattered Origins”, which featured Shepper, a bass player from Braunschweig, on the song “Dive”! It also featured “Cotton Candy” and “I see you”, which were released also as singles.
2021: The new experimental album “Electrostatic Interference” was released as CD in 2021, together with lots of re-released stuff on six CDs. These CDs were “Collide”, “The Geometry of finite Reflections”, “Inner Conflict/Reworks & Outtakes”, “P/PM/DIC” and “What’s Your Frequency I & II”. 2021 was also the year of the first real live performance since 2016 at the “Dark Indie Electro” Festival in Braunschweig, together with System Noire, Beyond Border and Ashes ‘n’ Androids. Blinky played also at a small festival in Leipzig, which was a really strange experience.
2020: The year Covid stopped everything! No concerts and no (real) releases, only three EPs with demo tracks, called “Experiments Eins, Zwei und Drei” see the light of day digitally.
2019: In 2019 “Inner Conflict” was released on CD together with a video clip for “Nothing Wrong”! “Dystopia” was also released as CD with bonus tracks from the “Blue Ice” EP. In 2019 Olaf played together with Torsten an online live concert. This was the first time Torsten performed live with Blinky Blinky Computerband.
2018: Some digital only tracks were released and Olaf starts (again) to record DJ mixes for the internet.
2017: The album “Dystopia”, the EP “Blue Ice” and the single “I want you” were released digitally. That’s all for 2017!
2016: The year of “For a better World”! The CD was released with 17 tracks and three guest singers. Half of the tracks had guitar parts by Arni. Four video clips were filmed and Blinky performed (first concert ever!) at the “Strange Electro Pop Festival” in Braunschweig, together with Psyche, Infernosound and Synergy. This year was also special, because of the cooperation with Darrin Campbell Huss of Psyche, who wrote and sang the lyrics on “Up Close” and performed the song for a video clip and live, together with Blinky, at the “Strange Electro Pop Festival”. “Fractured Sign” was also released on CD in 2016.
2015: Two compilations with remixes were released and also the first Blinky Blinky Computerband CD. This 2-CD-set called “Strange Electro Pop” and it brought back 35 tracks from the time period 2012 – 2015, for the first time on a factory manufactured CD. In 2015 Arni and Olaf met for the first time and Arni played the guitar on the track “Love & Hate” which also featured Perma F from Sweden on the vocals.
2014: Some new singles and also two re-released of singles, previously released as a side project, called Cellular Circuit, which was stopped than, were released. This was also the year of the first remixes produced by Olaf as Blinky Blinky Computerband. Three highlight tracks of 2014 were “Stille”, “Dem Tod den Tod” and the live classic “Walls”.
2013: Two more album releases, which contained the first songs with vocals by Blinky and yes, “Musik für seltsame Kreaturen” featured the classic “Elektromann”. 2013 is also the year of the first appearance of Van Bauseneick as guest singer on the Blinky track “Meine Freizeit”. Some more tracks will follow until 2016.
2012: Blinky was established and the first album “We Are …” was released.

MUCH PREVIOUSLY:
Before Blinky, between 1992 and 2012, Olaf had some other projects for his musical stuff. The first project was Ultrasonic, which was active between 1992 and 1994. Because of “name problems”, the project name was changed to Inside Agitator, which was active for 18 years, until 2012. But for other musical genres and experiments, there were more other projects.
